Real Weddings

Zoe and Steve

Autumn leaves  with orange, black and gold grasses and flowers.

Zoe popped along to my my stall at the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza last autumn, and tried on a floral headband.  A couple of months later she got in touch with the photo of her in the headband, asking for an exact replica.  Fast forward to the wedding a year later, and I created her bouquet, buttonholes for Steve and the bridal party and floral accessories for all of her girlfriends in very personal marriage celebration

The bride and groom...

It was the preserved beech leaves that she first loved in the demo headband, mixed with black dyed grasses.  The rest of the colours evolved as we planned the flowers - mainly based around swatches from her dress and the setting of the wedding, in a meadow with tipis. In the end I included browns, blacks, oranges, reds and touch of gold (yes! you can get gold dried flowers!). She didn't want her bouquet to be too large and flamboyant, so I kept it as a small hand-tied style with colourful flowing ribbons to match the flowers.  Steve let me know that he was wearing an ivory tie, so I added ivory ribbon to finish off his buttonhole.

The dress

The detail in the dress! Having seen swatches and having been told it would include all of the these colours, not forgetting feathers trimming the hem and shoulders (which I also added to the headband), I couldn't fathom how her dress was going to look. But Jo at The Couture Company has no end of creative talent, and I'm in awe!

Zoe kept her bride squad close, giving them all a floral accessory to wear - some had a floral fascinator, some a wrist corsage. One had a touch more gold added to complement her dress, another had a few extra red flowers in hers.  I'm always happy to create bespoke items for the bridal party to match outfits, hairstyles etc

And they all hit the dance floor to celebrate afterwards!
